Discuss the four pillars of Transformational leadership and the effect it may have on influencing policy change

Solution:

Healthcare policy can impact the advanced practice nurse (APN) profession in many ways. First, it influences their practice. Nurse practice per the set policies and their scope of practice is limited to that defined in the healthcare policy. Also, healthcare expands APNs’ professional roles. To date, nurses are required to actively assume roles and responsibilities in healthcare policies. To be influential, nurses ought to take themselves as professionals with the responsibility and capacity to influence the contemporary and future healthcare delivery systems. Policies define and incorporate appropriate care delivery standards and protocols with which the APNs must abide by for promotion of safe and quality patient care. APNs can influence these practice policies and standards to ensure quality care (Schober, Gerrish, & McDonnell, 2016). Lastly, healthcare policies can affect the allocation of resources for supporting healthcare delivery to APNs.
