A paradigm shift is occurring across the United States from volume-based to value-based care. Reflect upon your organizational culture to address the following:
- Analyze and assess the culture of your healthcare setting as it relates to patient safety.
- Examine one opportunity to improve patient safety outcomes. Include in your strategy current technology being used to support safety and explain the importance of interprofessional collaboration to help promote a safer environment.
Solution:
Patient safety is reflected in my organizational culture throughthe attitudes, beliefs perceptions as well as values that all the staff shares. The organizational culture affects how the healthcareproviders dothings and their way of thinking which in turn affects safety. For instance, teamwork is one of the values that are often encouraged in our organization and it reflects a culture of safety. Teamwork is a critical component of delivering safe patient care because itensures individuals work together to coordinate care. When the healthcare providers collaborate effectively, they can work together to reduce medication errors, improve efficiency, and improve patient outcomes as well as satisfaction (Rosen et al., 2018).
