Patient compliance is a patient’s ability to believe that the medication provided to patients after consultation is right. When patients comply with the instructions provided, they follow the directives provided to the end of the dosage. Compliance indicates positive behavior that must be emulated by all patients. The coincidence of patient’s behavior to medical advice is considered as compliance.

Patient compliance is significant to nursing in that it gives nurses the confidence to guide patients accordingly. Nurses must demonstrate confidence in their work for patients to adhere to the medical advice they provide. While it is impossible to measure patients’ compliance accurately, health officers are aware of non-compliance reasons.
