Professional Identity and Stewardship

I was privileged to interview Mrs. Annette Kenneth (A.K) who is the surgical unit charge nurses in the Family Medical Care Center (FMCC). A.K has 15 years of experience in nursing leadership as a charge nurse and had previously worked in two different healthcare centers as a charge nurse for 5 and 2 years respectively before joining FMCC 8 years ago.  When she graduated as a registered nurse, A.K pursued her career and specialized in bedside care delivery. After working productively for 5 years, she got a promotion as a permanent charge nurse after demonstrating her leadership capacity in many aspects. She has continued to attend leadership and managerial education and training session to improve her skills. I managed to gather sufficient information regarding the questions of interests as summarized in this paper. This paper is a review of an interview with A.K., her role in the healthcare delivery team, her view on leadership and professionalism, professional advocacy and authenticity, and power and influence and their influence on her work and her interaction with colleagues and patients.

Role

A.K role as a healthcare team member includes staffing the acute unit, assigning patients with beds as needed and allocating to the nurse’s various tasks related to the unit. In addition, A.K is responsible for making the availability of necessary resources within the unit. It is A.K’s role to ensure everything is in order through identifying staff and resource shortages and implementing necessary changes to ensure smooth flow of events. In the event an acute unit concern extends beyond her capacity, she escalates the concern by seeking the advice of the supervisor…..Please click the icon below to purchase full solution at $5
