My assigned disease for this discussion is hypertension.  According to Gabb et al. (2016), hypertension is a medical term for high blood pressure. This is an implication that the blood applies a lot of force against the wall of the blood vessels. Medical guidelines typically define hypertension a blood pressure that is higher than 130/80 millimeters of mercury.  In most cases, hypertension develops over the course of several years. Normally, most people do not notice any symptoms.
