Solution:

slide 1

The nursing profession changes rapidly and thus requires life-long learning. Nurses are required to maintain their license in participating in continued education in order to stay up to date on current healthcare trends, patient care and new treatments techniques. According to Ironside (2015), most US states mandate nurses to complete a particular form of continued education in each two to three years as a requirement for licensure. Even though one’s state does not require the nurses to have any kind of continued education for renewal, the nurse might still be required by his/ her employer or the nursing association for particular job certifications. As such, regardless the circumstances, continued education is highly critical in nursing.

 Slide 2

Many nurses believe that they need more education and exploration of other approaches to ensure lifelong learning and continued competence in order to align themselves in today’s healthcare environment which is highly dominated by changing technology and practice, new healthcare systems and patients demands for competent providers. Continued nurse education improves the personal as well as the professional nursing practice. Further, continued evidence based education has a high possibility of preventing errors, supporting health professional practice and performance, fostering on-going professional development, and sustaining enhanced personal and organizational performance outcomes (Kalb,  O’Conner-Von, Brockway, Rierson, & Sendelbach, 2015).

In regards to cons

Cost: Continuing education is costly as the employers have to pay employees to enrol and attend nursing lectures or training programs at the expense of being away from patients’ bedside. Additionally, change implementation is costly following its demand for training resources.

Time- This includes time away from family and work. Also, change implementation requires time and so does completion of continuing education…..Please click the icon below to purchase full solution at $10
