The Client

J.C a 45-year-old divorced African American male presents to the clinic with feelings of anxiousness and sleep problems for the past 7 weeks. J.C is a former U.S military veteran where he left due to his unmanaged alcohol abuse disorder. The patient states that he feels disturbed and is unable to sleep at night. No matter how hard he tries, he does not seem to succeed in getting over the traumatic experiences he had during the war in the Afghanistan war. Whenever he eventually falls asleep he is awoken by scary nightmares and flashbacks. Patient further states that he no longer functions well and he has had to leave his career job as a lawyer due to fatigue and heavy-headedness following lack of sleep. The patient is currently not under any medications and denies fever, chills, colds, and sweats.

Diagnosis
