Case Study Fetal Abnormality:  Applying Moral Theory

Moral status entails who or what is valuable to be taken in high regard and with special considerations (Bix, 2017). Moral status has continued to rise many dilemmas and questions especially amongst religions in some situations such as abortion of fetuses with abnormalities. This paper will explore the case study on the moral status of fetal abnormality (De Jong & De Wert, 2015). It includes the Christian view of the nature of human persons, theories used by those involved in the case study, theoretical Influence on the recommendation for action, and personal choice of theory.

Christian View of the Nature of Human Persons

Christians believe that human beings are made in God’s image in their perceptual and intellectual capacity, but not in the body. This has been expressed in Genesis 1:26, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness”. Christianity believes that the life of a human being is sacred and thus should be respected, valued, and its dignity upheld without any exceptions. Human beings’ dignity and respect is the root of the moral visions within society. As such, the Christian theory has it that moral principle ought to apply in every human being, including the unborn (Jones & Molinari Jr, 2018).
