Spirituality and Social Work Practice

According to Zastrow and Kirst-Ashman (2016), it is highly essential for social workers to take into cognizance the mind, body, and spirit when assessing clients for deduction of the optimal action plan. However, spiritual concerns have not been exhaustively explored in assessing and addressing clients’ needs leading to many efforts directed at the inclusion of spirituality in client assessment and treatment in social work practice (Barker, 2007). A plethora of researches has been carried out to establish how social work practice can include spiritual and religious morals in interactions with clients. A client’s spirituality should be equally approached similarly with family, lifestyle, employment, and other aspects as it influences the client’s life to a certain extent. On this basis, this paper seeks to establish the relationship between spirituality and social work practice by evaluating the Eboni Logan’s case.
