Week 4: Leadership: Establishing Relationships and Influencing Change

As a leader I will establish relationships and influence change in my specialty track by building and nurturing a trustworthy relationship with the patients, families and community lays a strong foundation in influencing change. Mathew and Gupta (2015) define leadership as the ability to influence, convince, motivate, and engage a team, an organization and a community as well as oneself. Influence enables the leader to achieve the desired outcome and actualize vision and goals. Being in the family nurse practitioner specialty, it is of high importance to have the propensity to influence different patients, families and community for attainment of improved patient outcomes.
