Conscious sedation is described as combining different medicines which are purposed on making one relax or completely block a patient from feeling pain. Notably, the aspects of relaxation and blocking pain are described by sedation and anesthetic respectively (Shah, Thapa, Lamichhane, & KC, 2016). These medicines are provided during procedures that are considered painful or uncomfortable to the patient. Two procedures using conscious sedation are dental and surgical.
